DONNIE KOLAKOWSKI
Donnie Kolakowski is a senior journalism major at Ball State. During his freshman year, Kolakowski served as the beat writer for the Ball State Daily news for softball and women’s tennis. He also wrote for Cardinal Sports Live Online on the women’s volleyball team.
Kolakowski had his first full-time broadcasting position his sophomore year as he was color commentator for the women’s volleyball team. He followed up the volleyball broadcasting by working the color commentating positions for both women’s basketball and softball.
Prior to his junior year, Kolakowski was named the Sports Production Director for WCRD. He returned in the fall as the color commentator for women’s volleyball, and also got a position as an analyst for Cardinal Sports Live. He broadcast for women’s basketball for the second straight year, and manned the baseball color commentator position during the spring.
After working for the station for three years, Kolakowski was named Sports Director for WCRD. He returned for a third year as the color commentator for women’s volleyball.
The highlight of his career was being acknowledged by women’s volleyball coach Steve Shondell during the volleyball banquet. Shondell acknowledged Kolakowski’s dedication to broadcasting and thanked him for his hard work.
Kolakowski returned to Cardinal Sports Live and concluded his broadcasting career at Ball State as the color commentator for men’s basketball during the winter.
